Not a receptive audience

When crossing the border to come back to your home - which is not in the country in which you are a citizen - do not, under any circumstances, decide to be funny and answer the question: "Are you bringing back anything with you to Canada?"

With this response: "(Giggle) A hangover?"

Because the border guard will not find it funny and then you will subject to a great deal of questioning AND lecturing about why it isn't funny to say that.

Damn, and I thought you just had to avoid the bomb jokes and whatnot. Borders are just no fun, apparently.

When they ask you where you were born, "A hospital" is not the appropriate answer.

Also, if they ask if you've got anything to declare, drunkenly yelling "I DECLARE WAR!" is also most definitely not the correct answer.

But you were just answering their question... One more tip? When the police officer who pulled you over for speeding asks what the radar detector on your dash board is for? Looking at him like he's a moron and answering "Um... to detect radar..." is not helpful.

Oh no, a lecture! I hate even *watching* grown-ass people get lectured.
