Conservation

Wednesday, September 27, 2006

So now, in this stage, I have reached the "Conservation of movement" stage of my re-immersion into school.

I seek ways to blend work into other classes. Can I do the same project for more than one class? Yes? Maybe? Please?

The nice thing about being an adult in school is that I am happy to re-use old things. Thanks God no one here saw any of My Wheelock presentations, cause they are making a strong ass comeback at McGill.

Oh...and Terrance is gone to New York for the week. I'm still not sleeping, I interviewed one therapist this week (meh), and have another on Thursday. Oddly, the therapists all seem a little surprised that I am interviewing THEM. They look surprised! I suppose after 17 years, I have a good idea what I need. I'm not exactly hung up on my Mommy issues...usually.

I hope in the next week to catch up with you all. I know You know that it isn't for lack of love that I have been missing in the Blogosphere....My pleasure has had to take the back seat to the reading, and writing, and reading. I'm happy to report that this weeks readings actually made sense. My new favorite word to say? Hegemony!

P.S. Did I mention that I am writing this in my "Cognitive Development" class? Conservation!

I'm so glad you'll be back. I've miss you on my blog(s). However, I know about getting snowed by work and having to make choices. Hope you find a good therapist soon.

conservation of movement. i love it. permission requested to borrow that line, sir...i mean, ma'am...

So they're a little put off that you're interviewing them? I'd say that's an easy way to cross a few contenders off the list.

Keep recycling those projects. Conservation is good.

That's my girl!! Glad your world is settling down. :) Love, MOM

Indeed, conservation is damn sweet. Now if I could just trash my thesis and hadn in a year worth of blog entries instead? I'd be SUCH a happy girl!

Conservation of movement.

I love it. It sounds so green.

So when I blog, watch Project Runway and bond with a kitty cat in my lap I'm actually practicing a little conservation.

Convservation of movement is how I live. Thanks for naming it.

I like hearing about your search for a therapist. I just decided to ditch mine because he started telling me about HIS sex life. Yuck. Shouldn't it be easier than this?

Conservation of movement, I love that. My professors all frown on it though, and they're kinda buddy-buddy so it's too risky. Glad you can pull it off!

Yes! Recycling graduate work is fucking awesome!

And don't worry we'll be here when you get some free time.

I called a bunch of therapists in the yellow pages looking for one. Their answering services all said they'd get back to me. Most did not.

But one did, immediately, and wanted to know all about me and was really really excited to work with me. God what a keeper. You can learn a lot from initial interviews.

That's a good thing about getting older and wiser...conservation of movement - less flailing about. More purposeful duplication.

I hope you can use alot of duplicate stuff too! I hope your homework load decreases soon. But do what you need to do. We'll be here.

I've been keeping up with Gimlet and TWC, but I just realized that Baleful wasn't on my Bloglines list. The horror! Sorry.

When I transferred to MSU I had to take Freshman-level ATL (American Thought and Language, basically reading and writing). I took my high school Senior English thesis about Left-brain/Right-brain Theory, rewrote it with some fresh citations, made sure the bibliography materials were available at MSU's library, and handed it in. Four pointed it, too. I'm all for conservation.

Why not reuse work that is your own? I'm also a non-traditional student and have occasionally recycled passages from previous papers, when able to do so.

Anyway,I came here randomly and was pleased to see another adult student writing about their experiences. I'll be back.

You may be able to WRITE lines like that in class and not let out a little gasp of laughter (along with an involuntary, audible fart), but I cannot READ them in class and do the same.
